What is Jeans for Genes?

Jeans for Genes is a major fundraiser of the Children’s Medical Research Institute. It’s signature event is Jeans for Genes Day. Since its inception in 1994, the iconic national campaign has raised over $51 million for the vital research programs of Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI).

The Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) is an independent organisation committed to unlocking the mysteries of disease. Chances are someone you know understands the burden of childhood illness, because one in 20 children suffer from some kind of chronic illness, congenital abnormality or genetic disease.

Our philosophy is that major advances in prevention and treatment come from research into the fundamental processes of life. Currently CMRI has over 100 scientists and world-leaders in several areas of study including cancer research, cell transformation, - cell signalling, embryology and gene therapy. Each of these CMRI research areas costs over $1 million per year to maintain.

The money you raise from Jeans for Genes Day goes towards the work of these scientists. Visit www.jeansforgenes.org.au.
